The Area Action Plan identifies a retail quarter in Kettering Town Centre which is prime for retail development. The Council has made strategic land acquisitions to help facilitate development and has appointed agents to talk with interested parties.
The town is particularly keen to attract new national high street retailers and to encourage existing retailers to make further investments.
It is fair to say that Kettering does not currently have a shopping offer that reflects the population of the town and its catchment area. However, with the planned addition of a further 5,500 homes to the east of the town, the opportunities are clear to see. Indications are that major brands are starting to notice what is happening in Kettering and they are starting to invest.
